Family Therapy
Families are our first relationship — the place where we first learn how to love, communicate, and navigate conflict. And sometimes, the patterns we develop in those earliest relationships are the very ones that need the most healing. Family therapy is a space where those patterns can be examined honestly, compassionately, and without blame — so your family can find its way back to connection.
Does any of this sound familiar?
Communication has broken down and conversations keep turning into arguments
Parent-child conflict has left everyone feeling frustrated, unheard, and disconnected
Your family is navigating a major transition — a divorce, a remarriage, a loss, or a blended family dynamic
Grief or trauma has affected the whole family in ways that are hard to talk about
You love your family deeply but aren't sure how to reach each other anymore
If any of this resonates, you're in the right place.
My approach — Emotionally Focused Family Therapy
I specialize in Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), which means our work together goes beneath the surface of conflict to explore the deeper emotions and unmet needs driving the patterns in your family. Rather than focusing on who is right or wrong, we focus on understanding each person's experience — and building the empathy and connection that makes real resolution possible.
I work best with families that include teenagers and adults, where the complexity of individual identities, boundaries, and emotional experiences can be fully explored and honored in the therapeutic process.
What our sessions look like in practice:
We'll typically begin with the whole family together, then move into smaller group sessions focused on the specific relationships causing the most distress. Every family is different, and our work will be collaborative and completely customized to your family's unique needs and dynamics.
I'll help your family identify the harmful cycles intensifying frustration and conflict, and replace them with healthier ways of communicating and connecting. Parents will gain practical tools for navigating conflict with their children, building cohesive parenting strategies, and establishing boundaries that actually hold.
I also bring a somatic, body-aware perspective to family work — recognizing that stress, tension, and disconnection don't just live in our minds but in our bodies too. By paying attention to those physical cues, we can access deeper layers of understanding and healing within your family system.
Who is family therapy for?
All family structures are welcome here — blended families, single parent households, multigenerational families, LGBTQ+ headed families, and everything in between. I bring a culturally sensitive, non-judgmental approach to every family I work with, honoring the unique background, values, and dynamics each family brings into the room.
